Making Room For Oneness
I'm a huge fan of candy canes, but it's only around Christmas time. It's a seasonal candy. As a matter of fact, I'm an even bigger fan of Jolly Rancher Jelly Beans. These are seasonal as well because they're only sold around Easter. Anyway, candy canes are uniquely designed. Primarily, candy canes are red and white. You have the other colored/flavors, but I want to talk about these because they're only two colors. The significance of these two colors is one does not overpower one another. The two colors are evenly wrapped around the candy cane into one. The red does not dominate the white and the white does not dominate the red. Nor is one more significant than the other.
What a reflection of how marriage should be! You have two individuals merging lives together becoming one. In marriage, the symbolism of a candy cane should manifest itself. My likes do not overpower hers. Her hobbies should not dominate how we spend time; but when the two YIELD, SACRIFICE, and MERGE; ONENESS is created.
Over the weekend, my wife and I hosted couple's function in our home. There were 4 couples there. It was PHENOMENAL! The meal of the night was Fix-It-Yourself Tacos/Taco Salads. Baked cookies and ice cream was for dessert. I led the husbands breakout sessions on "Making Room For Her Weakness" and my wife led the wives on "Positioning themselves In Order To Keep Things In Perspective". The husbands surprised the wives with roses and the wives took the time out to write love filled letters to their husbands. We then cracked open some sparkling cider, toasted to many blessings, and what God is doing through us and in our marriages.
My wife has always asked, "Where or what do you think God is going to have us doing together?" She got a glimpse of that yesterday and it did her heart glad; mine too. We, two individuals (red and white) came together for one common goal, one purpose.
We capped the night off w/ the Michael Jackson "The Experience" and Just Dance 2 on the Wii. I'm nice on Smooth Criminal! LOL
